Suzanne Jenkins
Hello, I'm Suzanne Jenkins
Many of you know who I am, for those who don't my husband Ed and I have been members for about 7 years now. My husband & I are both retired & have been full time RVers for 2 years. We both absolutely love the Cove. We, our children and grandchildren, enjoy fishing, meeting new people, having fun at the pools and nights sitting around a beautiful campfire the most. To me the Cove is our relaxing atmosphere, a place to make wonderful memories with family and friends that last a lifetime.
I retired from HCA diagnostic call center as a team lead who helped manage 35 schedulers and worked with department heads from multiple hospitals & diagnostic centers. My favorite job was being a Hospice CNA for 10 years. I'm friendly, fair, and a hard worker. I make my own judgments on issues and people. I enjoy meeting members new & old. You will recognize me by my Boston accent, and love for the New England Patriots.
For the last year and a half, I have had the honor of being on the Board of Directors and we have made some wonderful improvements. I feel the board, management & staff have worked hard to keep the Cove a safe and family-oriented campground but there is always more to do. I would love to continue being a member of the board helping bring the changes, and improvements to light along with talking, and listening to any Cove member who has concerns, ideas, or just to say hello.
I would be honored & humbled if you elect me to continue being on the board to help move our Cove into the future. Thank you.
Bill Placek
Greetings to all Cove members.
I am Bill Placek and I am requesting your consideration to allow me to represent you on The Cove Board of Directors.
During my time here at The Cove, I have had a great opportunity to meet many members from different places and with different experiences. This has allowed me to get a good feel for what many members’ expectations and ideas are for the betterment of The Cove. My goal during my term as a Board member is to help to continue to create positive forward momentum in the improvement of not only the physical property, but also to bring clarity of processes and goals for the members, as well as the staff. This includes a five-year development and upkeep plan creating the safe and fun camping experience that all members and guests should have at a resort.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have always worked diligently to help every organization I have been a part of to succeed.
I grew up locally in Norfolk. My wife, Joy and I have two dogs and being a part of The Cove. I have been very involved in Scouting for most of my life, starting as a boy, and continuing on to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. From there I went on to being an active member of the district committee in Four Rivers District, Maryland. After graduating college, I joined the U.S. Navy. I have been an active-duty member since 1998 and am looking to retire in 2023 with 24 years of service.
During my service in the Navy, I have worn many hats over the years. I have managed everything from being a trainer for Security and Force Protection processes and measures and an accessor for installations across the country, to currently being a Ship Superintendent. This encompasses the process, planning and execution of US Navy Ship overhauls and maintenance to include scheduling, time management, and system readiness to allow for vessels under my responsibility to be ready for daily operations and deployment readiness.
While stationed at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, I was a member of the Board of Governors of the Fleet Reserve Association Post 24. Being on that Board involved helping to institute upgrades to the property, management of budget and process improvements for planning, implementation and program evaluation for the Association; including events, upkeep, and daily operation that keeps the Fleet club one of the shining stars in the Fleet Reserve Association’s national view.
I feel that my many experiences and knowledge have best prepared me to be your next active and productive Board member. I look forward to being your voice and representative. Thank you.
Elana Lambirth
Hello! And thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Elana Lambirth. My family and I became members April 1st of 2019.
My professional career started as an administrative assistant where I used my skills in the Real Estate, Construction, Risk and Property Management fields. During this time, I developed and implemented Standard Operating Procedures, which helped streamline business flow. From there, my skills grew and I became a Buyer/Planner for a multi-million dollar chemical company. Cost effective budgeting, communication with state and federal agencies and timely turn around was key. It was here that I also completed my OSHA, IATA and Hazmat training.
After my family and I moved to Virginia Beach in 2014, I re-entered the workforce. My drive to ensure customer service and quality earned me a position in District Management. While working closely with my store managers, we found where stores were losing sales and correcting the problem, coordinated store renovations with minimal disruptions to customers, developed new marketing strategies and implemented an associate training program.
We started to full time RV and became members on April 1st 2019. The Cove family is a very important one. One that you can count on for when you need a piece of advice for your rig, borrow a tool from, pass equipment on to. And this is important for OUR community.
There is always room for improvement. Not only for our facilities and grounds, but for operations and hospitality.
Ken Fontaine
Hello: I am running for the board to promote the community that we all love. I have enjoyed the summers at the Cove with the pools, a nice fire and a cold beer, some great bands and other live entertainment. Love taking long walks around the canals on a sunny morning. I have a background in IT and programming. My hobbies are auto mechanics and music. I was born and raised in Virginia and have been a VA beach goer my whole life.
